Free Essays on Aaron Burr
Aaron Burr Burr, Aaron (1756-1836), third VP of the United States (1801-5). Burr was conceived in Newark, New Jersey, on February 6, 1756, and instructed at the College of New Jersey (presently Princeton University), of which his dad had been president. He joined the Continental Army in 1775 and rose to the position of lieutenant colonel. Resigning in 1779 in view of sick wellbeing, he was admitted to the bar in New York City in 1782 and accomplished a notoriety for being one of the chief legal counselors of that city. Burr was designated lawyer general of New York in 1789 and filled in as U.S. representative from 1791 to 1797. He was a pioneer of the old Republican Party, which later turned into the Democratic-Republican Party, a place that carried Burr into struggle with his expert adversary, the Federalist chief Alexander Hamilton. In the presidential appointment of 1800 Burr ran with the Republican up-and-comer Thomas Jefferson. Each got a similar number of votes in the appointive school, and, as per Article II, Section 2, of the U.S. Constitution, the political decision was chosen by the House of Representatives, which picked Jefferson as president and Burr VP. In 1804 Burr neglected to win renomination as VP and furthermore neglected to win the governorship of New York State as a result of the commanding resistance of Hamilton. Hamilton for quite a long time had assaulted Burr freely and secretly, and Burr in the long run provoked him to a duel. They battled in Weehawken, New Jersey, on July 11, 1804. Hamilton was slaughtered, and Burr was undermined. He at that point got engaged with a plan that made his political recuperation sad. Homelessness In The United States
Vagrancy In The United States Free Online Research Papers Pretty much wherever you go to visit nowadays you will see a great deal of vagrants. Typically they won't be a danger to you yet once in a while they will disturb individuals to get things from them that they need. Since this has been occurring to many individuals they are beginning to get awful notorieties. Individuals will stroll down the road and see others burrowing through garbage or resting on park seats. At the point when this happens they will normally begin ridiculing them. Truly you can not pass judgment on individuals by what moves they have to make to get by in this world. Nobody realizes what battles they set up with ordinary. Indeed, the facts confirm that some vagrants are simply too sluggish to even think about trying and land positions. Then again a few people have mental issues or medical issues that limit them from working. A few gatherings of individuals have concocted a plan to send them back to their families and have them remain there until they get back up on their feet. In a manner this appears to be somewhat futile provided that they needed their families help then they in all likelihood would of effectively moved back in with them in the first place. A few people won't return home to their families since they need to demonstrate that they can make it all alone regardless of whether they need to experience certain battles. Cops in certain urban communities will split down hard on the vagrants while others will in general look the other way. I feel that if the police and other officials in all urban areas cooperate to help we could get an opportunity at turning this appalling way of life for individuals around. We donââ¬â¢t need to stay there and bolster them by giving them cash for brew or different things they need yet we could help secure them positions. Regardless of whether the occupations werenââ¬â¢t perpetual simply get them ones that will give them a kind of pay to gradually get back up on their feet. All in all, as long as we continue disregarding this circumstance or simply sit around idly speaking terrible about these individuals nothing is going to change. Everybody needs to help by discovering them choices that they might be unequipped for doing themselves. Perhaps with a little tolerance and time we as a whole can battle this awful circumstance that nobody has the right to be in. Books About the Power of Women to Celebrate 125 Women in the House
Books About the Power of Women to Celebrate 125 Women in the House One hundred twenty-five women. One hundred twenty-five women took their seats in the House of Representatives on January 3rd, 2019. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest woman ever to be sworn in and she did so in a suffragette white pants suit (the legend lives). Ilhan Omar, wearing a hijab, forced the body to change their policy on headwear, and Rashida Tlaib, shaking the patriarchy by reminding them ladies do, indeed know how to use the word motherfucker, are the first two Muslim women to be elected to the House. Deb Haaland and Sharice Davids, the first two Native American Congress women in history, hugged after taking their oaths. Some of these women swore to serve the nation on the Bible, as is traditional. Omar and Tlaib did so on the Quran. Krysten Sinema, only the second out LGBTQIA+ congressperson in history, made Mike Pence, a known advocate for conversion therapy, hold a big old law book for her and, friends, it was something to behold. As was the smile on seventy-eight year old Nancy Pelosis face as she took the gavel back from someone who wasnt Paul Ryan because, oh, rightâ¦he isnt a Congressman anymore. The expression on Speaker Pelosis face was a study in emotion. There was pride. Wonder. Joy. Relief. Determination. Some anger around the eyes. A dash of contempt for those who had allowed what she had worked so hard to build, for so long, to fall so close to ruin. And there was, throughout, a hint of a smirk. A smirk that said, to all who have felt afraid, were here now, and to all who had tried to tear our country apart with hate, were back, you bastards, and were bringing Hell with us. You know what Shakespeare said about women scorned, right? Over the centuries, its been used as an insult. A commentary on our supposed lack of emotional and psychological fortitude. Well, the Bards reasoning was all sorts of off, but his conclusions? Not so much. And after two years of a president who brags about grabbing us by our private parts and treats us like dolls to dress up and parade in front of other men, a president who thinks he has the right to legislate our bodies and our mindsâ¦Im pretty sure hell hath no fury like the Honorable Speaker Pelosi with a gavel. Remember, when Thor fell from worthiness, it was Jane Foster who wielded Mjolnir. And Frigga brought an army of female heroes to aid in the defense of Asgard. Who says comics cant teach you anything. Anyway⦠Who runs the world? Girls. (Well, women, but I didnt write the song, soâ¦) And here are some books to help you celebrate the ascension that proves what weve always known. Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor Sunny is a girl of two worlds: born in America to Nigerian parents, her family returns to their homeland when shes old enough to remember the former and to have difficulty finding her place in Nigeria. Because she was born with albinism, those around her arent certain how to interpret her appearance and, in Africa, some consider her cursed. Whats more, just as shes finding her balance, Sunny discovers shes a leopard person, in possession of magical skills that are a complete surprise to her but which she must learn how to use quickly so that she and her friends, a rare four person coven, can take down a magical serial killer, before he damages the world irreparably. Power is not always wielded by the most well trained, the eldest, or the wisest. Sometimes, its found where its needed most. A Spark of White Fire by Sangu Mandanna Esme is sent away from her family as an infant in the hopes of protecting all of them from a coup. Hidden for years as a servant at another court, trained as a warrior but expected to remain hidden away until called upon, Esme enters a competition hoping to win the most technological advanced ship ever built, a ship which also happens to be sentient. She plans to offer it, and her assistance, to her brother in his fight for the throne. Esme wins the competition and the ship. Her brother is willing to accept the prize but not her. Esme is not, as the kids say, down with that. And she will not be hidden away again. A Spark of White Fire flew a bit under the radar and Im not sure why but I urge you all to get on it. Based on The Mahabarata, its sure to be epic all the way through and I cant wait for the next installment. Captain Marvel, Vol 1: Higher Further Faster More by Kelly Sue DeConnick and David Lopez What, you thought you were getting a kick-butt lady list without some Carol? You should know me better than that by now. I particularly like this volume because its the one in which Carol has to make the decision to leave Earth, and that arc gives her a chance to be more than just the commander of Alpha Flight. Part of that decision is Carol Danvers the human discussing with a certain Colonel Rhodesâ"with whom she has one of the only mature, healthy, adult relationships in comics history, by the wayâ"the reality of leaving him behind on Earth. And asking him to feed her cat while shes gone. This is comic scripting at its best: real emotion, tempered with a little humor, epic stakes interspersed with humanity. This is what made DeConnicks run a classic and the conflict in her Carol something all of us, even those of us who wear scrubs or jeans and t-shirts, or lab coats instead of super suits, can identify with. Being a woman in this world is hard. But Carol does it, her writer does it. We can do it too. My Love Story by Tina Turner Back in the olden days of 1987, Tina Turner wrote a memoir with Kurt Loder. Loder, for those of you who dont remember, was what we would probably now call a pop culture writer at magazines like Esquire, Details, and Time. He was also an editor at Rolling Stone and was the news dude on MTV. I read I, Tina last year for a piece on women in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and it was an interesting memoir/biography with a fascinating structure: Turner and Loder would alternate chapters with her telling the more intimate, personal aspects of a particular period while he laid out more specific chronologies and transcribed interviews with family members, managers, colleagues, etc. Turner has written this new book on her own, however, and Im curious to see how its different. Certainly, there is an additional 30 years to her history at this point, in which her career has experienced a major resurgence and during which she has remarried and moved to Switzerland. Regardless, this is a woman who became a singer when she wasnt allowed to eat or stay in many of the places she performed, and who walked away from an abusive relationship in a time when that wasnt done, at the risk of not only her career but her life and the lives of her children. Who refused to let threats or social conventions destroy her and who rebuilt, on her own, from scratch, everything that had been taken away. We have work to do. This is a good place to find inspiration. Reimagining Equality: Stories of Gender, Race, and Finding Home by Anita Hill Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is survive. Sometimes, its the only thing we can do. Professor Anita Hill has complied the stories of African American women who have done just that, starting with her own great-great-grandmother, playwright Lorraine Hansberry, and continuing into the modern era with Baltimore beauty shop owner and housing-crisis survivor Anjanette Booker. In the Trump era, sometimes remaining here, in our homes, in our nation, is the greatest act of rebellion. Nolite te Bastardes Carborundorum. Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho Where has Englands magic gone? No one is certain, though its disappearance is likely the fault of the once highly proper Royal Society of Unnatural Philosophers not so gentlemanly Sorcerer Royal. The solution may be easier than the aforementioned believes though it would involve the utterly unthinkable: admitting a woman might be more capable in the mystic arts than any man Ruth Bader Ginsburg: A Life by Jane Sherron de Hart No one defies expectations like the honorable RBG. Not in life, not in career, not in the utter destruction of social expectations and conventions. There is no public figure, no member of this government, more determined to make certain whats left of this ship stays on course. Shes 85 years old and was back working two days after lung cancer surgery, people. Want to know how she came by that grit? Read this book. Because yes, we need this incoming class. But we need a couple of elder stateswomen too. I think Pelosi and Ginsburg fit the bill pretty damn perfectly. Double Bind: Women on Ambition by Robin Romm Have kids. But when are you coming back to work? Take care of yourself. But dont post too many selfies. Focus on your job. But when are you getting married? Girls can rule the world. But dont be a bitch. Smile more. You were leading him on. You look like a nun. Did you see what she was wearing? She was asking for it. Women live in a universe of perpetual double standards. All of it is social construct. Every last bit. But that doesnt make it any less powerful. Has it gotten better as feminism has progressed? Maybe. Sometimes. But in my experience, women are often harder on other women than men are on women. Unless its related to sex, and then men think they own womens appearance, bodies, and opinions. Sex and comic books. So what do we do? The first step is acknowledging the conflict, as the essays in Romms book do. Only once we do so can we start to construct a new reality, one in which we can more objectively examine not only the double standards others apply to us but those we apply to ourselves and, horrors, those we apply to others. Dance like Ocasio-Cortez. Swear like Tlaib. Smile like Pelosi. Because the girl gang is here. And we have books.

A Hybrid Moth-Flame Optimization And Extreme Learning...
A Hybrid Moth-Flame Optimization and Extreme Learning Machine Model for Financial Forecasting Abstractââ¬âIn this work, a system for stock market prediction is proposed based on a hybrid moth-flame optimizer (MFO) and extreme learning machine (ELM). ELM is also a promising method for data regression and classification and has the advantage of fast training time, but it always requires a huge number of nodes in the hidden layer. The usage of a large number of nodes in the hidden layer increases the test/evaluation time of the net, and there is no grantee of optimality of the setting of weights and biases on the hidden layer. MFO is a recently proposed promising optimization algorithm that mimics the moving behavior of moths. MFO is exploitedâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦ELM is used as supervised learning method for SLFN method. ELM has high accuracy and fast prediction speed while solving numerous real-life problems [2], [6]. ELM randomly selects the input weights and hidden layer biases instead of fully tuning all the internal parameters such as gradient-based algorithms. ELM could analytically determine the output weights [2]. Due to random choosing of input weights and hidden layer biases, ELM needs more hidden neurons than gradient-based learning algorithms [7], [8]. The bio-inspired algorithms were used in optimizing ELM to overcome its drawbacks. In [7] differential evolution (DE) algorithm was applied to select input weights and biases to determine the output weights of ELM. DE-ELM achieved good generalization performance with a compact structure. In [9] DE-ELM was used for the classification of hyperspectral images, and it improved classification accuracy and computation time. In [10] Evolutionary ELM based on PSO algorithm is proposed, and PSO algorithm improved the performance of traditional ELM. In [11] a new method combined ELM with an improved PSO called is proposed to improve the convergence performance of ELM. In [12] an evolutionary approach for constituting extreme learning machine (ELM) ensembles is introduced to direct the selection of base learners and produced an optimal solution with ensemble size control. Should Marijuana Be Legalized - 966 Words
Marijuana usage should be legalized in the state of Georgia. The legalization of marijuana is going faster than many thought possible. Eight states are considering replacing criminal penalties with fines, and are considering decriminalizing possession. Medical marijuana is on the table for seventeen other states also (Ross, J. K. 2014, 05). This drug can be used in many helpful, medical purposes. Cannabis oil can be used to treat certain seizure disorders in both children and adults. These are afflictions that can cause hundreds of seizures a day, and can even lead to death. However, it does not create the high that recreational use of marijuana produces (Aaron, Torres, 2015). Marijuana cigarettes are effective at controlling nausea. They are more effective at controlling nausea than the capsule containing synthetic tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. THC is the active ingredient in cannabis. It can be safely used in a supervised medical environment. At least ten New Mexico hospitals had patients that smoked marijuana supplied by the federal government in an experimental state, and showed that it was ââ¬Å"highly effectiveâ⬠at controlling nausea (The, A. P. 1988, Sep 07). Marijuana can also be used to treat glaucoma. Glaucoma is the disease that puts pressure on the eyeball. It damages the optic nerve and causes loss of vision. Coca Cola revived its old brand Citra within the lime carbonates category. While Coca Cola already had Sprite and Limca in the lime carbonates category, Citrus was priced at 20% cheaper than them. Coca Cola also reintroduced its brand ââ¬Å"Rimzimâ⬠, a masala soda with cumin and spices. PepsiCo reciprocated by reviving its popular brand Duke in Mumbai, where it is very well known. Duke was launched in four flavours. Since PepsiCo and Coca Cola have almost similar product lines, companies launched new products and were involved in brand extensions in order to differentiate from the others. PepsiCoââ¬â¢s Mirinda was the answer for Coca Colaââ¬â¢s Fanta in the orange category. Lack of differentiation in the Orange category lead PepsiCo to launch two new varieties of Mirinda- ââ¬Å"Mango Orangeâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Orange Masalaâ⬠in order to gain traction among the consumers. PepsiCoââ¬â¢s launch of 7up lemony bite in Punjab was to counter Limca. Danone and Narang Beverages partnered to launch Bââ¬â¢lue, a water-based restorative drink. Companies are constantly innovating to come up with new products with greater benefits that will help the companies differentiate themselves in the soft drinks industry. The soft drinks industry in urban India is reaching maturity, which is forcing the companies to look at the rural market as the next bastions of growth. Urban consumers consider carbonated soft drinks unhealthy. There is an increased traction for fruit and vegetable juices among the urban consumers. PepsiCoââ¬â¢s Tropicana, Coca Colaââ¬â¢s Minute maid and Daburââ¬â¢s Real are addressing this surge in the demand for fruit and vegetable juices. As far as the rural markets are concerned, a significant 21% of the off trade volume sales in 2012 came from these markets. Companies are increasing their focus on rural India. As an indication for the increased focus, Coca Cola started distribution of solar powered coolers in rural areas which can store up to two crates of Returnable Glass Bottles (RGBs). Competitors: The Indian soft drinks industry is dominated by PepsiCo, Coca Cola and Parle Bisleri ltd. Coca Cola has 23. 6% of share, Parle Bisleri ltd. has 21. 6% share and PepsiCo has 21. 2%. Parle Bisleri ltd. garners such high volumes solely based on its packaged drinking water brand ââ¬Å"Bisleriâ⬠. Excluding packaged water, itââ¬â¢s almost a duopoly with PepsiCo and Coca Cola being the significant players in the soft drinks industry. PepsiCo and Coca Cola have similar product lines. Sex Education Essays (838 words) - DraftCarson Hill, Startup Cult
Sex Education What is the first thing you think about when you think of elementary school rites of passage? For me it is and always will be sex education. Only for me it was not such a time of wonder; it was more like a time of trying to keep my stomach from turning inside out. I remember it like it was yesterday, even though it was more like seven years ago. It was late April, headed into the summer of my fifth grade year. My teacher was Mr. Atkinson, a funny little man with a good background in American history and, conveniently, a fifth-grade sense of humor. Our class was located in a small portable, which was the trademark of overcrowded public schools in the area. Without air conditioning in the spring it was like a furnace in there, and that did nothing to help my situation. District policy in regards to sex education led to this learning phenomenon each spring, when the male teachers would take aside the fifth grade boys and the female teachers would do the same with the girls. I remember being rounded up like cattle and herded into the portable, which was doubly crowded as it bore the brunt of the fifth grade male population in the school. There was excitement, fear, wonder, apprehension, and a hundred other emotions swirling around the group of kids, and all of them were obvious to anyone watching. As we entered the small building, a mass of fidgety kids pinching through a small doorway in the corner of the room, it was like no other time I had been in there. The room seemed different somehow. Not worse, anyway, but there was a definite change between then and the last time I had been in there. Thinking back on it now, it was most likely the energy of all that curiosity, because when the speech began, a depth of knowledge previously unknown to us was suddenly and wonderfully available. Previously, that which we did know was as much fiction as reality. We scrambled for chairs at an increased speed, resulting in the expected griping, shoving and whining that we always heard. After we had all found chairs, those who had not sitting on the floor, the room quieted down and we all knew something was about to happen. Mr. Atkinson greeted us with his usual easily relatable anecdote. The crowd seemed to settle slightly, as if some energy had been lost when we saw that this new, exciting lesson was going to begin just as all the two-plus-two, preamble to the Constitution speeches had before it. But this lesson was more interactive. All throughout the first few minutes of our meeting hands shot up fast and sometimes naive, sometimes completely misinformed questions were launched at the three male teachers at the front of the class. Sometimes the answers incited giggles, while other times they induced debate, even looks of pure astonishment. After we had covered the basics of the human anatomy, which happened slowly but sped up when we were given a glimpse of what was to come, we moved on to some of the even hotter topics among the boys on the playground, relationships and sex. It started out fine, but I was in for a surprise. As the details of the lesson became clearer, I found my stomach feeling somewhat unsettled. I pictured in my mind all the things that the teachers were saying, and it was really disgusting to me. The strange feeling in my stomach grew more intense, and before I knew it I was queasy. It didnt end there, because soon my head began to swim, and my vision was fading in and out. I was scared not knowing what was happening to me, so in panic I stood up weakly and slid my feet one in front of the other until I was at the front of the room. I vaguely remember trying to tell Mr. Atkinson that I didnt feel good, but before I knew it I was falling to the ground. Luckily the teacher caught me, and through eyewitness accounts that have been related back to me more times than I like to think about Im told he carried me to the nurses office, where I regained consciousness on a small bed with a paper-covered pillow, which crinkled as I moved my head. The nurse comforted me and told me that I would be fine, and
